I hated comments that were rude about other peoples religion ....I would think what if someone is visiting for first time and belongs to that faith. Lack of social graces many jw's display ( maybe they just feel to comfortable around each other , but my goodness ones at the hall I attended could be so juvenille .) Being two faced , the false concern , the forced smiles . The ones that had position as pioneers that drank to the excess on weekends, and then commented on others lack of good behavior. Condescending attitudes . The sister that coughed into microphone before every comment , the one that always related her ill health to some comment in the study. WOW this is really theraputic ...........................

What Things Irritated You While A Witness?
by minimus ini used to hate it when i'd listen to brother blow give his long winded comment about how we're all supposed to do this or that----and he was barely considered a witness......we had a few elders, and especially the po who would go overtime just because they could.
the po's bookstudy always went overtime.
45 minutes into the meeting he was still on paragraph 3. and he would read every scripture including the ones quoted!!!

Daniel , I wish you all the best in your effort to fade . My husband felt the same way your wife does when I told him about my changing beliefs. His first concern was that I was leaving him or that I would no longer respect our marriage vows.... We had a heart to heart, and I reassured him of my love for him . As far as telling him all I know about the Watchtower deceit ...I left it to just ask when you are ready to hear what I have learned. We have discussed the blood issue though because he needs to know what I want in case of emergency .

How to reply to the inevitable invitation to Memorial this year...
by nsrn ini'm anticipating a series of visitis from the witnesses to invite me to memorial.
every year i get a few with the preprinted invitation, a couple slightly old magazines, and big smiles.
these are people who i grew up with, who were kind to me, who honestly think my fade out will cost my eternal soul at the big a. these are the same people who pick up my elderly parents for meetings, bring them food when they are sick, and change their rusted out water heater for them in the dead of winter.

Thank You for the invitation, but I am going to be out of town that day......... or, I have a previous engagement for that day...... or, I have company coming that week....... or, I have to work that night........... Aka the class of many excuses.......

Anyone feeling the Memorial pressure?
by atypical infor those who are fading, do you feel the pressure building as the memorial approaches?
family members who otherwise are busy with their own interests suddenly start paying more attention, dropping hints and holding their breath as it were.
then there are the invitations.

I am wondering what will happen at Memorial time ......We havn't been going to meetings for afew months now , but I am sure my husband will insist on attendance for this day. I prefer to maintain the current inivisability factor , but I'm sure family pressure will win , at least this year . I am really dreading it , but I guess I can smile and bear it for an hour . Or, We could just tell relatives we are going to visit another hall for the memorial ! Recently , MIL has called and is catching on that something is up .So I imagine gestapo tactics will be beginning shortly.......Let the games begin.

Richie Your A Good Young Man.......Always remember that........
I know it hurts you to see your mom get so upset . But the biggest lesson to learn about this situation is .....how she chooses to act and react really has nothing to do with you . She is an adult , and should act accordingly . It was over a freakin piece of paper it wasn't like you told her you were never going to fulfill your promise to her . When she rants and raves , the best thing you can do is remain calm not talk back, and go over and give her a big bear hug .Tell her , " I'm sorry you feel that way mom . " and then walk away . Try it ...maybe at least it will diffuse the situation and give you some peace .
In my real life I'm Dr. Mom -

Zealous JW`s having children......
by jambon1 inwhen we had our children we planned them.
we made this known to any in the cong who asked if we 'got a surprise' when we found out we were pregnant.
we basically said, 'no, we wanted children'.

I'll never forget the summer convention of 1987 ... there was a stern talk..... I don't remember the details, but the just of it was how we are in the time of the end, and how inappropriate it was to be planning families at this time . I was 8 months pregnant at the time and thought- what crap ! Another sister in the hall was pregnant too ,she said she felt like crawling under her seat. Now both of our kids are graduating High School this year !

I love my life!!!
by Brigid ini just had an amazing, albeit fairly typical weekend.
i wanted to share with you guys and most especially any who are lurking or worried that life in "the world" leads only to crack addiction, aids, satan worship, etc.. friday: i had a fabulous evening out to a very nice, funky little italian restaurant with my 10 of my friends.
they'd gathered to celebrate my birthday early.

My son just mentioned to me this weekend how much fun he is having with his" new friends". He said when he left them for the night, they all gave him a big hug .They were concerned , he had a long drive home , several told him to call when he got home so they would know he was okay. This meant alot to him.... he said he never felt like that with his witness friends. No one had ever shown such genuine kindness. Getting a glimpse that there is real life on the outside.
